Synopsis
A novella by Bi Yu set during China's War of Resistance against Japan. It traces the clash between Kuomingtang and Communist Party intelligence operatives—a contest of strategy and nerve that unfolds through espionage, killing, conflict, loss, and desire.
The Rebel treats human life with care, extending dignity to those cast aside as disposable. It carries moments of unexpected romance and the weight of what love costs, alongside the question of whether to hold onto faith and the strength required to do so.
