Synopsis
A man gets the diagnosis of lung cancer just after turning twenty, and checks into hospice at a hospital in Mito, Ibaraki. There he encounters Setsumi, a woman two years his senior, who is also dying. Both of them have decided against spending their final days inside hospital walls or in their families' homes, so they take the silver Honda Integra that belongs to the protagonist's father and leave. They drive west through Japan's highways and across its prefectures, with no real plan at first, until they settle on the narcissus fields of southern Awaji Island as their destination—a choice…
