Synopsis
Wen Shiyang went from being the top courtesan of Chang'an to the second wife of a military officer in the 1980s. Two well-behaved children came with the marriage. The husband was handsome, cold, and unapproachable. She planned to keep her distance and coexist peacefully. She could not leave the children behind. What she didn't plan for was how completely the careful distance between them would collapse — or the third child who appeared before she'd agreed to any such thing.
