A *xiongzhai* — what English speakers might call a haunted house — is a place where someone died before their time. The belief goes that dying with years still left on your clock breeds resentment, and that resentment keeps the dead anchored to the place, stirring up things that shouldn't move and sounds that shouldn't exist. Jiang Shuo and Qin Yiheng have built a quiet little business around this. They buy notorious haunted properties cheap, clear out whatever's lingering inside, then flip them for a solid profit.
