Synopsis
Teian has lived and died nine times, cursed to die at thirty-five every cycle and be reborn as a child. In this life he becomes advisor and bodyguard to Diver, a ten-year-old king treated as a puppet. Teian raises him carefully over fifteen years — tempers him, guides him, turns him into someone worth following. Then, as his death approaches again, he submits his resignation. Diver tears it up. He will not let Teian go. Not even to die quietly.
