Synopsis
Ruby was a prodigy alchemist — and she knew it. She also made sure everyone around her knew it, especially Loyd, her childhood friend and exclusive mage, who she casually bullied whenever the mood struck her. Loyd's picking rate sat at forty percent, well below average. The country mostly saw him as a joke — an incompetent leech riding on Ruby's coattails, worthless outside of that one connection. He got tired of it. The daily harassment, the sneering, all of it. So he ended things with Ruby and left to find some quiet corner of the world where nobody knew…
