Synopsis
During the late 1600s, slave raids wiped out the Mahi, a small African people. Two young hunters from the tribe, Demba and Kanga, stood out for their particular talents—and were transported to the Netherlands, then sold onward to a Kapitan who carried them to Japan. Once in Edo, Mito Mitsukuni took notice. He arranged passage for them to his domain in Mito. But Mitsukuni had his own agenda. His real plan was to ship them north to Ezo (Hokkaido) aboard the Kaifumaru, a massive vessel constructed by the Mito domain.
